Hello From Down Under

Hello! Hello! Down here! Can you see me? I’m down under this veritable mound of excrement. I’m thinking of that line from Jurassic Park that cracked me up as a kid (still does).
“That’s one big pile of _ _ _ _!”

What I’m trying to say is that sometimes I feel like I’m under a big pile of dinosaur poop.

This is random but another movie line that cracked me up was “Go with God Crispy”. Remember that one? Tell me in the comments if you know it. My comment section has been complaining lately that it feels like Hannah (from the bible) and a little barren.

I don’t even know the last time I posted anything but I’m sure lots of momentous things have happened. At the very least a mountain of unimportant things have happened. Either way it’s been A LOT.

I’m 13 days away from being a Thirty-Three Year Old. Joey is 36 days from being a One Year Old. His daddy is 39 days from being a Thirty-Nine Year Old. We’re all getting old. And then of course we’re now 62 days away from Lilly’s Due Date. If nothing momentous has happened lately there are at least 4 examples of momentous things coming up.

Wordless Wednesday

Well, this video clip has PLENTY of words in it.  It's also Rated R.  I thought it was hilarious.
Enjoy!

Oops I Did It Again....

I read a random blog post about chickens in Farmers Branch yesterday, a story for a different time, and really liked how this girl organized the topics in her blog. So I took the idea and applied it to my blog(s).

So far this year my little blog has been viewed almost 2,000 times. I have no idea WHO or HOW MANY people are viewing it. I’d almost be willing to believe Grannie V has personally viewed it 1,500 times herself! Can’t be sure though. 2,000 views in less than a year is a lot to me even if it’s not a lot to the rest of the world. But even without people to view it I still love my little blog; writing posts about pretty much whatever pops into my head, arranging the layout and apparently changing the title too.

Blog Labels
I like having things categorized and easy to find…that’s why I created Jimmy’s Corner earlier this year. In my desire to simplify things I over-complicated them. It seemed like the answer at the time though. I’m leaving the Jimmy’s Corner blog and all of its posts open but I won’t be posting there anymore. It was too much work, too confusing and no one checked it out anyway. From now on I’m simply going to label each post with one of the following tags:
  • Family
  • Jimmy
  • Joey
  • Junk Drawer
  • Pregnancy: Jimmy
  • Pregnancy: Joey
  • Pure Random-ness
So if you want to read all of the posts about Jimmy all you have to do is look on the sidebar to the right and click on Jimmy. It will bring up all the posts that are about him. See isn’t that easier? If I add topics to my blog in the future I’ll just add another tag to the list.
I did it (reorganized) again and I'll probably do it again and again and....

Pray 4 Gray's Family

Grayson, the youngest son of my brother's close friend died last night on Mother's Day.  I guess there is never a good day for your baby to die but on a day dedicated to the celebration of Mothers it seems a little bit of a cruel twist.

Here is the link to Gray's blog and donation page.

I wanted to post the news and link to reach maybe a few people that my brother's social network might not reach.  Please keep their family in your prayers.

Flashback...

I finally had a chance to bring some of my old baby pictures to work.  I hoped I could scan them and post them for your viewing pleasure.  I had my fingers crossed...and it worked!  There aren't a ton of them but some of them are to show how much I looked like a boy  Jimmy looks like me and some of them are just to either laugh at or to "ooo" and "ahh" over.

Jimmy in a dress

Jimmy does his hand JUST like this!

This one looks just like Jimmy in a dress to me

Jimmy in the tub

Not exactly Jimmy - but pretty darn close!

Just for fun

Me at 4 months - Lil Piggy!

Me at 11 months - growing into my baby fat

So there you have it...

Baby Stuff

This is a post of random baby stuff but I didn’t really think it was exactly Junk Drawer worthy. I have heartburn.

Good Idea

As I mentioned in one of my last posts I haven’t bought any diapers yet. I always tell myself that I’m going to buy a pack every payday and then I never do. Although I stare at them in the diaper aisle for several minutes every time I’m at the store. I think I’m just in denial that 36 newborn diapers really do cost $9.97. I spend $13.97 for 70 size 5 diapers for Jimmy. They aren’t Pampers Dry Max though and I know that make all the difference.

I didn’t like Parents Choice in the newborn diapers and didn’t really start using them until around size 4. I’m still pretty adamant that I’m going to use Pampers for The Nino unless they just absolutely don’t fit his body right. I just really like the softer diapers for really new delicate skin and they really just seem to fit better. The wetness indicator strip is pretty handy too.

OMG this heartburn is a killer.

Reorganizing

I like to be organized. I really like it. It doesn’t happen very often and on the rare occasion that I do manage to get organized it only lasts a hot second. Life is too complicated to stay organized for long. Don’t get me started on my silverware drawer. I want to dump all the contents in the trash and start over. Not to mention it’s not actually silverware. Which doesn’t really bother me so much as the jumbled mess.

The point of that ramble was to tell you that I’m in the process of re-organizing my blog(s) because this is probably the one area that I have something approaching complete control over. And no one tries to put a fork in the spoon slot or a big spoon in the little spoon slot. I’ve mentioned my “Pages” on this blog before. One of them is the Belly to Baby page where I post all of my belly pictures. I think it’s a handy feature but I wish it were even more versatile than it is. I wish I could use those Pages for blog posts and then I could group my posts together – like all of the Jimmy’s Corners or the Junk Drawers and so on. Unfortunately the Pages aren’t that versatile. After stumbling across someone elses blog last week in a moment of boredom I discovered a new way to organize!

More Things That Make Me Cry

The National Anthem.  It doesn't even have to be particularly well done but when it is - Niagra Falls temporarily relocates to my face.

This is my friend Brooke White singing the National Anthem at a Phoenix Suns game and I think she nailed it.

And this is her blog about facing fears.

File Under...

...things that make me cry.

I volunteered  was coerced into doing the bi-weekly "inspirational moment" at work on Feb. 3rd.  During my research I found this video.  I'm not sure exactly why it's inspirational but it did make me cry.  "Why??" you make ask.  "Good question!"  I'll say.  I don't know exactly...

Ummm...What??

Sometimes life plays tricks on you at the craziest times.  As most of you know today is April 1st...also known as April Fools.  I'm usually prepared for all kinds of shenanigans for a few days leading up to and a few days following April Fools.  I'm on high alert basically from March 28th - April 4th just in case someone decides to pull an early or late prank on me.

There are years when I'm able to plan and pull off a pretty good prank and then some years where I have zero ideas for a prank at all.  I had a doozy for this year.  Then life tricked me...on April Fools!  How appropriate and just plain crazy!

Ode to My High Chair

I've just got to say it.  It really needs to be said.
I. Love. My. High Chair.
Or is it High-Chair? Highchair?  You say Highchair, I say High Chair....lets call the whole thing off!

Moving on.  I sparkly heart with a cherry on top and extra whip cream love my high chair. Sorry, really moving on now. I remember unwrapping this deceptively simple package at my baby shower.  All of the gifts thrilled and overwhelmed me because it really brought it home how close I was to holding my baby.  This particular package was a surprise because I thought it was a little overpriced and I didn't really expect anyone to buy it but I was relieved to have one less thing to worry about.
