Junk Drawer – 4/27/2012

Thankful

I have a lot to be thankful for. Besides the things that we all take for granted every day like Family, Friends, Home, Having a Job, Food…etc…there are things I am thankful for that I haven’t really stopped to acknowledge and focus on. Sometimes its so easy to focus on the things that I’m not so thankful for that I completely miss out on recognizing the things I should be thankful for.

I’m thankful that I’m almost to week 33 and I haven’t developed PUPPPs. Right about now with Jimmy I was a itchy, miserable mess. If I do get it down the line at least I have some experience with it and know what works and what doesn’t but I don’t have it and hopefully I won’t get it. Once was enough!

I’m thankful for hiccups. Not the ones that I get that annoy the heck outta me but the ones The Nino gets that causes these sweet little rhythmic jumps ever so often. Nothing like in-utero hiccups to help you connect with that little bundle you haven’t met yet.

I’m thankful for ultrasounds. I got to see The Nino yesterday and even though it wasn’t a 3D ultrasound I was still able to make out a lot of his face and could almost get an idea of what he looks like. He had his hand up by his chin and while we watched he moved his hand to his mouth like he was going to suck on it. So cute!

I’m thankful for foot massages. I’m not thankful for all this ugly, uncomfortable swelling in my feet and legs but having someone in my life that gives me foot massages to help reduce the swelling is really a wonderful thing that I shouldn’t take for granted. He even puts my socks on for me.

I’m not going to jinx myself and say I’m thankful I haven’t gotten any new stretch marks because I still have 6-8 more weeks to go but I COULD be thankful for that if I wanted to be.

I’m thankful that even though the midwives are calling me borderline hypertensive I still have managed to avoid bed rest and that The Nino is healthy and growing normally. Forget that 3 ¾ lbs I posted about the other day…the ultrasound estimate was 5 lbs! That means I’ll have a good 8 lb baby…at least. Big boy! (okay, okay, 8 lbs is still average but compared to 6 lbs…that’s a beast!)

I’m thankful for flip flops. ‘Nuff said.

And I saved the best for last...

I'm thankful that our 2nd son and Jimmy's brother is on his way.  He's worth all the swollen feet, hemorrhoids and heartburn in the world.  (not that I really want any of that...ya know?)

Not Thankful

To balance out the scale I’ll tell you what I’m not thankful for:

Cankles
Sausage Toes
Heartburn from the pits of Gehenna
Toddler Puke
Water Heaters that crap out one year after the warranty expires
Chipped Red Fingernail Polish

Could be worse, huh?

Week 32 - Phoning It In

Ehh.  It's 6:05 am and I'm already at work after a 40 minute train ride and a 7 minute shuttle ride.  I didn't get an awful lot of sleep due to Jimmy waking up crying hysterically at 11:30 and ending up sleeping with us...aaaaannnnddd due to the horrific heartburn that would roll into my chest and head the minute I tried to lay my head down.  Seriously, it made my ears hurt!

So I'm phoning this weeks post in.  The Nino is about the size of a jicama - which is something else I've never heard of - and that is about 3 3/4 lbs and over 16 inches long.  He's getting to be a big boy...and he definitely seems to enjoy any sugar his Mamma feeds him.

In lieu of a Belly Pic this week - since my phone camera only works sporadically now - I'll just post of a picture of how I feel at Week 32.

Junk Drawer – 4/18/2012

Found some time in the busy-ness to stuff some more stuff in the junk drawer of my life.

Cravings

I’ve been craving ice for weeks now. I’ve been told throughout my life that it signals a need for more iron. I prefer crunching ice to crunching greens so I’ll just stick with the ice for now. Also, I can count it on my daily water intake…double score.

I’m not sure if you knew this or not but there is good ice and there is bad ice. Okay, really I can’t think of any bad ice but I certainly do have a preference. You know the ice in the freezer that has the frost on it? I love that stuff. Mmmm! I don’t know why but it tastes so good or something. Also, here at work there are two different kinds of ice in the ice maker. The fresh stuff and the old stuff. I prefer the fresh stuff….its easier to crunch…and it has a great texture. This is what it looks like.

Good Ice!

See the texture??

Week 31

Wow! I’m busier today than I have been up to this point and I’m still managing to post this on time. I think I stepped into some kind of time warp-y thing or something.

Excuse me a moment…I need to visit the ladies room.

Okay, I’m back.

31 weeks. 9 weeks away from my due date but I’m pretty certain I won’t make it until then. If I made it just 6 more weeks he would be born somewhere around Memorial day weekend-ish. 7 more weeks he would be born on his Daddy’s birthday. Wouldn’t that be something?? 8 more weeks and he would be born on our 5 year anniversary. . . Lots of fun times to pick from!

Week 30

Here I am...late again.  I have a feeling this will start to be a recurring theme as things heat up here at work.  We're on our last week of "taking it easy" and next week should start the beginning of non-stop work and not enough time to do it in.  I'm hoping to get some (lots) of overtime!

I've been looking forward to this busy period for a couple of reasons.  One because I actually like this campaign and the controlled chaos it brings.  And two because it makes the time fly and I know the next 5-6 weeks will go by in a flash.  At which point I'll be pretty much full term!  And of course the possiblity of mucho overtime is really nice too.

I was so excited to get the system update on my phone on Tuesday...the day I reached 30 weeks.  My phone really does work much better now but for some reason it's still giving me problems with the sd card and camera.  So I didn't take a 30 week picture yet either.  Not an official one anyway...you'll see what I mean later.

Wordless Wedne....err...Thursday

Flashback...

I finally had a chance to bring some of my old baby pictures to work.  I hoped I could scan them and post them for your viewing pleasure.  I had my fingers crossed...and it worked!  There aren't a ton of them but some of them are to show how much I looked like a boy  Jimmy looks like me and some of them are just to either laugh at or to "ooo" and "ahh" over.

Jimmy does his hand JUST like this!

This one looks just like Jimmy in a dress to me

Not exactly Jimmy - but pretty darn close!

Just for fun

Nursery

I’m getting really excited about my nursery and having two babies in it. When I was pregnant with Jimmy just having things to put in a nursery and a baby to go with it was exciting enough that it didn’t bother me that I didn’t have the time or resources to really decorate it. Now that I’ve had that baby for 19 months now I’ve stocked up on lots of baby essentials. So with this pregnancy I don’t have to focus so much time, mental energy and money on acquiring baby stuff all over again.

Sure, there are still things I need and want that I didn’t get last time or things that I want The Nino to have his own of. But those things aren’t pressing and lately my mind and creativity has been honing in on the nursery. “The Boy’s Nursery” Eeeeeek! I’m not changing color schemes or themes so I don’t need to re-paint the room or anything drastic. I just need to set it up to function efficiently for two boys and an office. Tall order, huh?

Week 29 - and 1 Day

I’m one day late posting and I’d like to say I did it intentionally in order to report on today’s findings at my midwife appointment. I didn’t do it intentionally though – I just got busy and forgot. Not only was I busy but unbeknownst to me while I was busy death was on a twisting trail pointed straight at my location. Thankfully, in my blissfully unaware state “death” split approximately 6-12 times and went around me. Not only was my life spared but so far so was everyone elses in the DFW area. In case you don’t watch the news I’m talking about the severe storms and tornadoes that hit DFW yesterday. It did a lot of damage but from what I understand there was only minor injuries and no deaths! Amazing!

So here we are – 29 Week and 1 Day. And still no picture. Good news on the phone front – Sprint finally has a system update that is supposed to solve all of the issues that all of us LG Optimus owners have been facing for over 6 months. They promised to have it rolled out to everyone by the 21st. So maybe by then it will be easier to take pictures and post them. I’ll take one this week at some point…just not promising that I’ll remember or have time to post it right away.
