Joey: Two Months

Peaceful
What makes you two months old? Is it achieving the 8 week mark or is it the same date as your birth date (e.g. the 1st)? Joey was 8 weeks last Friday but today is his 2 month birthday. It’s hard to believe it’s already been two months and it makes me cringe knowing every month from now on is going to blink by.

Where do I begin? There are so many things I want to say first. "He’s such a sweet boy." "He’s such a big boy." "He’s so strong and alert." "He’s a brown-eyed boy."

So I’ll start with the basics:

  • - He was 14 lbs and 22 inches at 7 weeks!
  • - He’s already in 3 month clothes and I’ll probably start getting out the 3-6 month clothes soon.
  • - He’s about to graduate into Size 3 diapers. Newborn to Size 3 in two months!
  • - He has brown eyes but it’s still hard to tell what shade of brown they’ll end up being. Right now they look a little like a coffee color.
  • - He’s still hairy! Hair on his ears and back – our little Wolverine. He also still has lots of dark hair on his head although it has thinned out some.
  • - He can hold his head up without support although he still has moments of extreme wobbliness.
  • - He loves to be around people, noise and activity.

Jimmy & Joey size comparison
He’s such a sweet, laid back baby, he makes the cutest sad faces and he loves to snuggle. He has more periods of time when he’s awake now and is content to sit in his swing, boppy or bouncy chair and watch everyone. It’s really hard to believe he’s already so big sometimes, I think he’s about the same size Jimmy was when he was 3 months. Not only is he physically big but he’s already just growing up and the “brand new” newborn phase is long gone.

Trying out the walker
He sleeps pretty good, usually giving me at least one 3-4 hour stretch a night but once he wakes up and decides he’s hungry he’s very insistent that I feed him NOW! He hasn’t smiled yet, at least not a real smile. There have been a lot of big grins in his sleep and some mouth movements that make you think he’s about to smile right before he cries. But no smiles yet…that just makes me look for one even harder. He has started cooing and “talking” some…he doesn’t seem to have a lot to say right now though, he’s happier to be talked too.

Already filling out the bumbo!

I’m so glad he’s here and he’s ours.  I just wish this baby phase wouldn't fly by so quickly.
