15 Month Checkup
Little Jimmy boy had his 15 month checkup yesterday. Here are his stats:
22 lbs. 10 oz.
30 1/2 inches
Daddy guessed 30 inches and 29 lbs and I guessed 29 inches and 25 lbs so we were pretty close on the height but wayyyy off on the weight. I guess he just feels heavier than he really is.
He had a finger prick that he watched as if nothing was happening and then 3 shots that he cried so hard for. Poor little guy, he eventually cried himself to sleep. I'm so glad those shots are spaced farther apart now.
I haven't updated in quite awhile for a couple of reaons.
1 - I haven't taken many pictures lately and no one really wants to read a blog without pictures.
2 - I haven't felt really great for the past several weeks.
I still haven't taken many pictures but I am starting to feel a little better so I'm jumping back in. Hopefully I'll have more pictures to share soon!

13 Months
Jimmy is 13 months now...or 1 year 1 month and 2 days.
He was burned on his poor little face recently with some hot soup. I think it probably looked worse than it actually was since it didn't seem to bother him...or maybe he's just a tough little boy...either way it's healing up nicely and you can barely see it.
I love this phase we're in right now, it's probably one of my favorites. He's so smart and doing new things constantly and he's so sweet! I find myself wanting to hang onto him like this forever and I snuggle and cuddle and kiss him as much as I can.

You Know You're a Redneck When...
12 Month Stats
Once upon a time when Baby Jimmy was one year and one week old his Mamma took him to the Dr to get weighed and measured and stuck three times with a big needle by a nurse that was actually very nice but seemed kind of mean at the time.
1st Birthday Party!
Thanks to lots of help from lots of special people Jimmy had a wonderful 1st birthday party. You all know who you are (Grannie, Uncle Daniel and Stephanie!) so thank you berry, berry mucho!

Long Overdue Update
On his 11 month birthday Jimmy took his first wobbly little steps!! At first they only happened when we would stand him alone away from anything to hold onto and he would run/fall into us. Then slowly he started letting go of the coffee table/couch/our legs and walking a few steps to where he wanted to go. Now, one week away from his 1st birthday, he’s “running” around the house just fine waving his little hands in the air for balance.

Lil Cruiser
Jimmy is a busy little bee and very much a little boy. He plays loud, talks loud and pretty much does everything loud. He gets into everything he can reach and tries super hard to get into things just out of his reach. He’s a pretty creative and persistent little booger. He’s also very aware of what’s going on around him even though he seems to live in his own world most of the time. I think he’s taking after my Grannie and seems to be displaying some selective hearing already.

BIG Changes Coming...
We are One Month and Six Days away from The Big 1! It seems impossible that we’re here already. Oy vey! I’m supposed to be planning a party and I haven’t even started! If it keeps going this way its going to be a BYOF, BYOB, BYOD and BYOPF (Food, Beer, Decorations and Party Favors) party. Jimmy won’t mind if you don’t bring beer…just saying…

First Pet
Jimmy is 10 months old, plenty old enough to start learning the responsibility of caring for a pet. I’m not planning to raise a lazy, irresponsible kid and you can’t start training soon enough!
While we were in FL Jimmy seemed especially taken with the lizards that crossed the walkway leading to the beach. He would follow them with his eyes across the walkway and into the brush and watch and watch until he couldn’t see them anymore. So we got him a lizard. I think he loves him a little too much.

Tan Lines
We took our first family vacation to the beach for the Independence Day weekend! There is something awe-inspiring about the ocean isn’t there? It’s almost impossible to comprehend the amount of water, the depths, the strange sea creatures and sand creatures for that matter and how it knows its boundaries.
The trip was long but Jimmy did amazingly well in the car for almost 15 hours! We arrived at the state park and quickly set up our tent and got things arranged to our liking and took off to see the beach. We were sticky and sweaty after all that work but as we cleared the last sand dune the breeze from the Gulf hit us and it felt delicious! The walk from our camp site to the beach was about a ¼ mile and unfortunately we forgot the stroller so our arms got a good work out all weekend.

9 Month Update
It’s been kind of crazy around these parts, hence the lack of blog updates. Things are starting to slow down a little at work but at the same time Jimmy is getting a little more mobile and active so I have a feeling things will never be the same again. The days of cuddling my baby on the couch all evening are on their way out and the days of chasing him around the coffee table are on their way in!

Easter Traditions...Ribs??
It's fun when you can start setting traditions for each holiday with your new little person! This year we didn't really do anything "Easter-y" per se.
List of things we didn't do:

8 Months
Today our little boy has hit the 8 month mark. I can’t believe all the changes that have taken place in just one month or even 8 short months and boy have they been short! Since last month he has another tooth on the bottom, he’s this close to crawling, he can army crawl backwards, he pulls himself up while sitting in your lap, he babbles all the time and he’s learning what No! means. Separation anxiety has set in big time and he loves to eat. He says “da da da da” and “mmmmmmaaaa” all the time. I’m still not sure that he knows what that means though.
Perpetual Motion
Jimmy is always moving. Always. Even in his sleep. It makes it almost impossible to take really good pictures...let me show you.

Lets Try...Videos
I've never used the video feature on Blogger...this is me giving it a shot.
**WARNING: I'm not a professional or even a good amateur videographer by any stretch of the imagination.
**WARNING #2: The video is sideways. I don't know how to fix it. Please don't fall down while watching the cuteness.
**WARNING #3: Watching other people's babies isn't nearly as sweet as watching your own...but it has been known to cause baby fever. You've been warned.

7 Months and a Tooth
Saturday, April 2nd, was Jimmy’s 7 month birthday/anniversary/mark…whatever you wish to name it. The first 6 months went pretty fast but this last month went even faster and I know that the next 5 months are going to fly by at warp 8 (since warp 10 is unattainable which is obvious to all the Trekkies out there).
Saturday morning I drug the play pen out to the back yard and rigged a makeshift shade with a blanket and Jimmy sat and played with his toys while Daddy cut the grass and I potted (is that a word??) a jalapeno plant, a new tomato plant and a dead tomato plant. I’m hoping that my thumb while hopefully is the general green is also a very white thumb which would indicate that I can resurrect dead plants. I really enjoyed getting my hands dirty and wearing my crocs in the very official position of gardener/landscaper. It made me feel productive. I think Jimmy really enjoyed playing outside and watching me work my plant magic too.

Ummm...What??
Sometimes life plays tricks on you at the craziest times. As most of you know today is April 1st...also known as April Fools. I'm usually prepared for all kinds of shenanigans for a few days leading up to and a few days following April Fools. I'm on high alert basically from March 28th - April 4th just in case someone decides to pull an early or late prank on me.
There are years when I'm able to plan and pull off a pretty good prank and then some years where I have zero ideas for a prank at all. I had a doozy for this year. Then life tricked me...on April Fools! How appropriate and just plain crazy!

Hallelujah!!
Jimmy's tempanic membranes look awesome!
I'm so sick of hearing about tempanic membranes this and bulging tempranic membranes that. I didn't even know what the heck a tempranic membrane was before this whole ear infection thing got started but after being shown the ear anatomy chart repeatedly I now know and shall never forget what the tempranic membrane is...the ear drum. Seriously? Yep, the ear drum.

1st St. Patrick's Day
My baby boy has such beautiful skin. So fair and flawless. To keep it fair and flawless and to help him avoid a painful and traumatizing introduction to St. Patty's day I dressed him in a lot of green. JD bought him the cutest John Deere outfit and it worked perfectly for the occasion.
It was early and the lighting was bad so excuse the quality....and the quantity. I don't think the hour or the lighting have anything to do with the quantity...you can just chalk that up to a proud mamma.

Fanciful Friday
Fabulous Friday. Fearless Friday. Frazzled Friday.
Well, I ran out of "F" words to describe Friday (today) and none of those really describes the day anyway. It's been a Full week for sure. Jimbo has ear infections again and Mamma and Daddy are suffering with allergies too.

Stats
Well, we did it...we finally went to the Dr and weighed in! Here are the stats:
15 lbs and 15 oz
25.5 in
We were guessing he weighed a lot more than that but I guess our arms are just tired. The car seat also adds 50 lbs I think.

Six Month Bust and Brag
I’m so disappointed to have to tell you that I have no stats or a Six Month picture to post. The day yesterday did not go according to plan in the slightest. I left work early to go pick up the little guy and the plan was to run really quick to apply for his passport and then go to his Dr appointment and find out how much he’s grown in the past two months.
I prepared all the paperwork for the passport application ahead of time and even had his pictures done at Walgreens so we could walk in and walk out. The passport office told me it would be a max of 40 minutes to finish. FOUR hours later I leave the passport office for the last time having finally finished all the running around they had me doing. I ended up having to get Jimmy’s picture taken THREE more times just to get one that wouldn’t be rejected.

Six months!
February...I realize this is confusing...was the 6th month although he is just now 6 months today. Okay so maybe not too terribly confusing but if its still early for you and you haven't had your coffee or Dr. Pepper, whatever the case may be, it might give you a little trouble.
I think each month that passes is the best month and then the next one comes along and tops it. This last month was the best yet. He is so cute and loves to laugh and will crack up at the most random things. He talks a lot and blows bubbles with a passion. He gets lost in his own world while he's talking to himself or his toy. He's sitting up better, enjoying tummy time more and he's discovering he owns a pair of feet. He also has a little temper that shows itself if you don't feed him fast enough and he fights sleep like a champion.

Countdown to Six Months: Month 5
**And this one was supposed to be posted on Tuesday!! Yikes I'm behind!
Month 5, January was another fun month. We started giving him tastes of foods towards the end of this month and his first food was avocado! He also started rolling more and was able to support himself sitting up for a little bit at a time. Besides a little hiccup from a painful ear infection it was an awesome month.

Countdown to Six Months: Month 4
***Ooops! This was supposed to be posted on Monday...
December! This was a fun month. Jimmy started laughing, talking more and lighting up when he saw us. He also "discovered" the TV and could stare at it forever...even the most boring and inane things. This was also the first month he could actually sit in the Bumbo.

Countdown to Six Months: Month 3
Month 3, November. He started teething this month, it wasn't too terrible but he started wearing bibs almost non-stop around this time because of all the lovely drool.
I don't have very many pictures from November but here are a couple.

Countdown to Six Months: Month 2
Month 2, October, was a really good and a really hard month. We were settling into a rhythm, learning who Jimmy is and what his preferred schedule was and he was learning how to tie us tighter around his little finger. He was starting to smile smiles that weren't gas related and melting our hearts with each one. He was still a bobble head but starting to be able to support it really well by himself. He also discovered that his thumb would do in a pinch if the pacifier wasn't handy.
I also started back to work that month and had to leave my precious little one with someone else for 9 hours every day. That made the month one of the harder ones of the last 6. But I'm thankful to report that while it's not what I want I've adjusted pretty well and Jimmy doesn't seem to mind too much either.

Countdown to Six Months: Month 1
Our son, love saying that, will be six months old in 6 days. In case you didn't realize six months equals half a year. Ummm....yeah! Where the heck does time go anyway?? You would think the older time gets the slower and more decrepit it would be...apparently it's the opposite. So to celebrate the six months since my sweet little boy arrived I'm going to share some of my favorite pictures of his first month with us.
Ode to My High Chair
I've just got to say it. It really needs to be said.
I. Love. My. High Chair.
Or is it High-Chair? Highchair? You say Highchair, I say High Chair....lets call the whole thing off!
Moving on. I sparkly heart with a cherry on top and extra whip cream love my high chair. Sorry, really moving on now. I remember unwrapping this deceptively simple package at my baby shower. All of the gifts thrilled and overwhelmed me because it really brought it home how close I was to holding my baby. This particular package was a surprise because I thought it was a little overpriced and I didn't really expect anyone to buy it but I was relieved to have one less thing to worry about.

Hanging With Mamma...In Black and White
I just discovered over the weekend that my phone will take black and white pictures. Life changing! Or should I say blog changing?? Somehow b&w pictures make me look like a really great photographer....or at least better than what I really am.

Beautiful Day
We've been having some really beautiful weather this week. I think Jerry Jones must have put in a special order for it since he screwed up so bad with the Super Bowl. However it got here I'm just happy it's here! It was a little overcast yesterday and breezy but all in all just beautiful!
When I got home with my little booger I checked the mail and opened what I thought was the water bill and it turned out to be a nice letter from the city asking politely if we thought maybe the end of February might be a good time to take down our Christmas lights. No pressure of course! After giving it a little thought I figured why not?!

Bedtime Routine
It’s been a tough few weeks when it comes to Jimmy sleeping…at night. He naps like a champ but we’ve had some weird nights where he wakes up literally every hour. I’ve tried not letting him sleep as much in the evening so that he’ll sleep longer at night. When I introduced baby food and cereal I tried giving it to him right before bed in the hopes he would stay fuller longer. Nada! It actually seemed like he woke up sooner. I’ve blamed it on teething and a growth spurt and it may have legitimately been one or both of those things BUT I don’t want this pattern to become the norm so I decided to establish a bedtime routine to see if that will help. Last night was the first night and I think it was a success.

Catching Up
I have quite a bit of catching up to do! These last 5 1/2 months have been exhilarating, exhausting, funny, poop-tacular and pure amazement at how special, brilliant and handsome our son is.
Here are some of my favorite pictures.
